Put Your Phone Case On

Despite what you may be thinking based on the title and image, this is not an advertisement for a phone case! Although, I could easily list numerous reasons why you need a Loopy case for your smartphone. But, that’s not what I’m writing this post for. Just keep reading and you will see!

Recently, I took advantage of my phone provider’s limited time deal to receive the new iPhone 16 for an extremely low rate. My now “old phone” was in great shape and had my favorite phone case on it! But, it was time to upgrade while it was cheaper to do so. Now, I am thankful for the extra phone storage. New mom over here capturing ALL the memories!

I already knew that I wanted to buy a Loopy case for my new phone. So, after ordering the iPhone, I went ahead and placed my case order. My new phone got here about a week or so before the case arrived. I wasn’t wanting to drop any more money while I waited for my Loopy to arrive. So, I went without.

Yep, new smartphone plus no case plus a little one that grabs everything in sight. Basically, that was a cracked phone screen waiting to happen. I am aware of how crazy I am. I lost count of the number of times I heard things like “OMG you don’t have a case on that!”,  “I would’ve dropped that so many times.”, or “You really need to put a case on that.” I would just laugh and say “I know right. It’s on the way.”

Then it hit me. My “WAIT A MINUTE” moment!

Walking around with a brand new phone that isn’t cheap by any means with no case or means of protection. Every second I had that phone without a case on it was a risk. A risk that it cracked, shattered, or completely got demolished with no hope for fixing. Isn’t that what so many people do though?

Every day that is lived apart from God and his purpose is like walking around with your phone in hand, no case or screen protector. It’s a risky situation. One wrong step and you might fall. One fall too many and you will crack. After so long, the cracks keep adding up. Before you know it, totally shattered. Every day that is lived without the Father is a gamble with your eternity. You wouldn’t dare put your smartphone in such a scary position, so why are you willing to put your own life in that situation?

Let’s put some protection on YOU!

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10: 9 NIV

You can’t just accept Him into your heart and call yourself protected, though. Accepting Christ into your heart also means living a life following Him DAILY! It also means clothing yourself in the full armor of God.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

Ephesians 6: 10-18 NIV

Sadly, many “believers” and “followers” are living unprotected. Whether they admit it or not, many people are living out the profile of a lukewarm Christian. Which is the same as walking around with a slick new phone and no case to keep it safe. (Revelation 3:15-16) They claim to love God. They say they have a personal relationship with the Father. They might even go to church on Sundays or pray before dinner time. When you look at their daily walks though, they are missing it BIG time. They are in love with money and material things. They are getting drunk. They are setting their Bibles down and watching the dust collect. They are flipping off the slow driver in the fast lane. They are cursing their coworker for doing something wrong. They are gossiping, cheating, lying, manipulating, disrespecting, and the list goes on. They live up to the saying “holy on Sundays and live like hell all the other.” These people need to get their crap together right?! WAIT, that is me and you! You may not be guilty of all those things I listed, but I am sure you have something that came to mind while reading that. I know I have my own issues.

“ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”

Matthew 15:8 NIV

As followers of Christ, we have got to do better. We need to put our phone cases on! We need to live each day with a Kingdom mindset. Let’s start with reading our Bibles more, daily even. Let’s pray each day. And, when we pray, let’s pray for help where we fall short. Let’s pray for God’s guidance in the areas of our lives that don’t glorify Him.

“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”

Luke 9: 23 NLT

So, whether you are reading this as a nonbeliever, still on the fence about it, or have accepted Christ into your life, I encourage you to put your phone case on! Protect yourself from the traps of the enemy, and flee from worldly things. We don’t have time to sit around and throw the dice on our eternity. Fellow children of God, let’s live each day following Him and lifting one another up!
